Giant mushrooms, 'Ichinoderma resinosum' make a delicious rich tea that reduces appetite.  They fall into the category of shelf or bracket polypore mushrooms, a category described by experts as not containing any particularly dangerous species. However, an increasing number of them are being shown, with mass spectrometry and other scientific means to possess multiple health benefits.
The larger mushrooms are most likely 'Ichnoderma resinosum'; the smaller darker ones below, look and feel like birch polypores, but the fallen tree looks more like a beech. The tree can't be identified with certainty because it has been decaying for many years.
